Emailing Subscribers

What is the best way to email active subscribers? I have been exporting the subscribers and using mail merge in Microsoft office. Is there a way to do this from within Joomla or Membership Pro?

Maybe you can try to use Membership Pro with ACYMailing ( www.acyba.com/ ). Basically, you can setup the extension so that when users sign up for subscription plans, they will be assigned to selected ACYMailing Lists. Then you can use ACYMailing to send emails to these subscribers

I thought about this given that I am already using ACYMailing. I am curious if there is an option to remove them for a mailing list in ACYMailing when their subscription expires? I also have the subscribers setup to go into user groups when they register. I can use the Joomla mass email users function to email the groups. But I was hoping to use the subscribers name in the greeting for the email.
