Electronic membership card? was created by Scott
Hi there,

I am using membership pro for a club website, we used to manually issue membership cards....our membership is now completely automatic and electronic using membership pro online.

What I wondered is it possible to display a users "name", "membership expiry" and "membership number" using custom html or similar? What I was hoping to do was have a membership card image in our secret members area which automatically has the users "name", "membership expiry" and "membership number" diplay on top of the graphic, so they can print a paper membership card if they need it to prove discounts at local participating shops and dealers. Alternatively I was hoping to create this automatically in the membership email registration confirmation.

I was imagine it would be possible to pull these details using custom html or php and just have them to display over the top of a graphic?

I have attached a simple graphic to try and explain what I want to do, the red [membership] items would obviously be the user's data pulled from the database?

Hope this makes sense,

Many thanks

Scott

Hi Scott

Unfortunately, Membership Pro doesn't support this feature. So I think you will need to find someone to customize the extension for you to have this feature.

I think it would be better to have a function to allow users to click on to download membership cart in a PDF file, then they can print that cart (the same as how we process the invoice in the system)

Tuan

Hi Tuan

Thanks for the reply. I noticed the plugin doesn't support this but wondered if there was any easy way just to pull the data from the datbase and put on top of the graphic using a custom html module?

Thanks for the idea on the downloadable pdf invoice, that could be an easier and nice neat touch to include some form or printable membership card.

Thanks again

Hi Scott

It could not be done using a custom HTML module. If you want to do that, you will need to wring a custom module to find the data from database and display in the module. Need to know Joomla module programming to do that, I am afraid of

Hi
This is feature I could use as well, this is something very useful to have.

If the problem can be solved why worry? If the problem can not be solved, worrying will do you no good.

Hi Tuan,

I also need this feature (PDF Membership card with customer details and current subscription details) for a client website I am working on.

Tuan would any of your developers be available to develop this feature? If so, please let me know how much it would cost and how long it would take to develop.

Thanks.

Hi Gem

Do you have a sample Member Card so that I can look at it to see whether it could be implemented ?

Hi Tuan,

Thank you for your consideration for this feature.

Attached is a membership card from my client's old website. The data was pulled from CBsubs, which I am now replacing with Membership Pro on their new site.

The card itself is a bit ugly and I was hoping to make it look a bit nicer.

It only needs to be something fairly simple with the organisation's details and logo and the members details, membership number and current subscription details.

For my purposes the membership ID needs to be the User ID.

I have also attached the code used to pull the data from CBSubs to create the card details and generate the PDF.

It is using an Open Source PDF library www.fpdf.org/ to create the card layout, styles and generate the PDF. This code was pasted into an article using the NoNumber Sourcerer plugin.

It was set up to generate the PDF and save it into a tmp folder and then delete all files within the tmp folder every hour so that the files do not build up on the server.

I hope this helps you to implement this feature for membership pro.

Please let me know how you go with it and if there is a cost involved to develop it.

Your assistance with this is very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Gem
