Could you please let me know what you are talking about ? All emails should be customizable. Please let me know a sample email you are talking about so that I can look at it and guide you to customize

Hi Eben

That email is sent by Joomla core. So you will need to edit the language file directly to change the message. Look at language/en-GB/en-GB.com_users.ini, you should see the message and can edit it
