Free Membership for a Competition

I would like to offer all the members of my membership a competition where the winner will get 3 months free membership. Is there a way i can set this up in the back end or am I going to have to do it manually. If I have to do it manually, what are the possible risks to the member (Free membership runs out but the member has to repost all their payment details).

I think you will have to create the subscription record manually for the member from back-end of the site for the winner. I don't see any risk here, could you please explain ?

To explain further, if we offer a 3 month free competition, when the the 3 months is up, would the person need to set up a new membership or can they just renew the membership at a usual price.

When you setup a subscription record for him and his subscripion expired, he will just have to renew with the renewal price.
