A question about OS Membership

Hi, we currently offer EXTENSION SUBSCRIPTION plans to our customers.

Im looking to add TEMPLATE SUBSCRIPTION separately now.

So, how would the configuration be done ?

Like I have a new user group created, EXT SUBS, so that when someone registers to any of the plan of EXT PLANS, they get auto added to EXT SUBS group and the DMS files are all 0$ for them. (Only EXT DMS category)


So, for TEMPLATE PLANS, I need to do the same, but a new group, TEM SUBS. So, that when someone registers to any TEMPLATE PLANS, they get auto added to TEM SUBS group and for them, the TEMP DMS category files only show as 0$, not the EXT DMS category files.

So, is there a way, we can set multiple configuration at DMS ?

I mean, for EXT CAT, only EXT SUBS group.
And for TEMP CAT, only TEMP SUBS group.

Unfortunately, Member Discount is a Configuration option in DMS, and it is the same of all categories. So it is not possible to do that in this case. I think you will have to customize DMS so that Member Discount will be set in Category level instead of in the Configuration as at the moment.

Buy Docman and setup with OS Membership ?

Or buy your edocman ?
Can it handle ?

Docman or EDocman, both can do the job. But of course, I will suggest you to buy EDocman :

1. It provides same functions and more.

2. It is cheaper.

3. it is mine .

Okay here is a brief requirements :

1. I can't use DMS for my templates subscription plans, as my Ext Plans are already using its configuration for Group ID and discount %.

2. Now I have new 4 template subs plans, so I do the same as I did with DMS ?
I simply create a new user group and assign that group in eDOCMAN config with discount as 100% for this group only.
Is that correct ?


So, that ext subscribers only get access to DMS categories.
And temp subscribers only get access to EDOCMAN categories.

And can we set individual price for items in edocman ?

For example, if someone wants to buy a single template, then how does it work ?

EDocman can only handle downloads and permissions. It could not be used to sell files. So basically, you will need to use both DMS, Docman and Membership Pro.

1. Use DMS for sending individual files

2. Use Membership pro to sell plans, then assign subscribers to correct Joomla group and then setup EDocman to allow them to download the allowed documents. You will need to setup documents in both DMS and EDocman (maybe create private customers area and allow subscribers to access to EDocman to download the allowed documents).

eDocman also works as a good directory app too ?

Because, I want to list my templates with it and have custom fields and more than 5 big screenshots with lightbox support.

Is that supported ?

And is it totally compatible with sh404sef ?

I think you should view edocman.joomdonation.org/ to see how EDocman list items. For screenshots, you will have to use a content plugin which support displaying images in article and then embed the gallery into the description of document as you do in article .

For SEF, EDocman has it own SEF router. it doesn't need sh404 but the URL is generated in the same way as uses sh404. That's the same for all my other products (we have a better way to implement SEF router than Joomla core).

Okay, so 2 set of Subscription plans at OS MEMBERSHIP :

Extension - GOLD , SILVER, DEVELOPER

Template - GOLD , SILVER, DEVELOPER


Then make two new user groups at Joomla user groups manager :

EXT SUBS (ID = 1)
TEMP SUBS (ID = 2)


1. In DMS configuration, set Group ID 1 to get 100% discount.

2. in EDOCMAN configuration, give only access to TEMP SUBS group ID 2.


So, when someone purchases EXT SUB, they get auto added to the ID 1 group, and they can download anything from DMS for 0$. But they cannot download anything from EDOCMAN listings.

And when someone purchases TEMP SUB, they get auto added to the ID 2 group, and they can download anything from EDOCMAN. But they cannot download anything from DMS listings.

Is that correct how I need to setup ?
