Tiered Access was created by Robert
I'm in the process of establishing a new subscriber service to my site and am having some trouble wrapping my mind around how to set up the ACL. I'm needing the access levels to work like so:
Plan W gets access to page A
Plan X gets access to pages A & B
Plan Y gets access to pages A, B, &C
Plan Z gets access to paged A, B, C, & D.
How might I accomplish this in Joomla 3.2?

1 is an article, the other 3 are from another module.
The article is our live broadcast page while the other 3 are video libraries.

Hi
In this case, we will need to use Joomla ACL and Joomla Groups plugin to setup it. It contains several steps, I will try to explain directly. If you need more explanations, you can contact me directly on Skype. My Skype nickname is tuanpnves.
1. Go to Extensions -> Plugins Manager, find and publish the OS Membership - Joomla Groups plugin.
2. Go to Users -> Groups, click 4 groups A, B, C, D.
4. Go to Users -> Access Levels, create 4 Access Levels :
- Level A : Only choose Group A
- Level B: Choose Group B
- Level C: Choose Group C
- Level
Choose Group D.
.....
5. Now, edit the subscription plans which you created, you will see a new tab called Joomla Group Settings :
- Set up it so that Plan W will assign subscribers to Group A
- Set up it so that Plan X will assign subscribers to Group A, Group B
- Set up it so that Plan Y will assign subscribers to Group A, Group B, Group C
- Set up it so that Plan Z will assign subscribers to Group A, Group B, Group B, Group C
6. Now, edit the resources you want to restrict, look for access field :
- Set access field of Page A to access level A
- Set access field of Page B to access level B
- Set access field of Page C to access level C
- Set access field of Page D to access level D
After that, it will all working as expected .
Regards,
Tuan

Hi Tuan,
We have 2 membership types: Individual and Department and want to all them to see restricted pages but don't want both pages to be seen by both, lets say the Department can see a Department Page and and Individual can see an Individual page. I created 2 Groups under the Registered Group - Department Member and Individual Member. Then I created 2 access levels: Department and Individual. i set a menu item on the top to restricted so it appears when the log in but then either group can see either page. Can you help? It seems to follow what you said above but I just can't seem to be able to restrict them to only certain pages. Thanks - Jim

Hi Tuan,
The pages would be single article Joomla articles.
We have 2 membership types: Individual and Department. Ideally, the user would log in and then a new menu would appear. The menu item is set for “registered” access.
From that menu we would like to have two drop down menus – Individual and Department.
Each drop down menu would be linked to an appropriate Joomla article. One would be set for the Individual tier and the other for the Department tier. Basically, the benefits of membership are different and we’d like to be able to restrict the access to the Member type that they are.
On another note, we’ve noticed that after the names / subscribers are entered that if we update an email address in Community Builder OR in Membership Pro that the corresponding email address in the other module is not updated. Is there a way to be able to edit one record in the system and have it update across the modules?
Thanks - Jim

Hi Jim
I think we can discuss about it directly via Skype so that I can check, setup it for you and then guide you how to do that. Will it be OK ?
If so, please contact me via Skype. My Skype nickname is tuanpnves
