How to stop a recurring donation

I cannot find this info specifically in the documentation so I am asking if my assumptions are correct.  There is an elderly gentleman who has set up a recurring donation and now wants to stop it. 

(1) I think there is a cancel button for donors to stop their donations. True?

(2) He wants us to stop his donation for him since he is having trouble figuring it out for himself.  How would I do that? 

(3) Will putting an end date in a campaign stop all recurring donations?

(4) Will deactivating a campaign without adding a campaign end date stop all recurring donations?

In some payment gateways like Paypal, Stripe, donors can cancel their recurring donation through Joom Donation layout: "Donation History" at front-end side. User can login and access to "Donation History" layout to see their donation records (including one time and recurring donation). Here, they can "cancel" the recurring donation if the using payment gateways support that feature.
By the way, Joom Donation doesn't have option to cancel the recurring donation through campaign setting.

OK, to recap what you said. The donor can cancel their recurring donation if they made it through PayPal as you described.

The admin cannot cancel the recurring donation on the backend for an active campaign.

And you didn't say this but I have to believe that when a campaign ends by arriving at the end date specified for the campaign... all recurring donations should stop at that point. Please confirm.

Lastly, if a campaign is deactivated (not because of end date), will that stop recurring donations or is that a function of the payment gateway, PayPal in this case?

a recurring payment will stop when:
- It has run enough payment times.
- User cancel recurring donation through Joom Donation (as my previous answer)
- User cancel recurring payment at payment site.

I think this is my final question. Just to get it completely clear in my mind.

I have a campaign that has expired. The end date was 5/23/2022. The campaign is no longer active. There is a donor that set the number of donations to that campaign as 24 and he has only made 18 payments so far through PayPal.  Since that campaign has expired will his recurring donations automatically stop now?

Unfortunately, currently, Joom Donation doesn't have option to cancel the recurring donation when the campaign is no longer active, because the recurring payments are handled by payment sites (Paypal, Stripe, Authorize.net..etc)
