Donation campaign in a Joomla article was created by Stefan Schroeter
Hi Tuan,
after installation of Joom Donation I am looking for a way to implement a donation campaign into a Joomla article. My first impression is that everything is self-explaining as long as I want to use a module at a fixed position on the site. It seems to be more difficult to realize my idea. There is already the Donation Form Plugin that can be integrated into an article. Now I see that I would probably also need a Donation Campaign Plugin. Do you have something like this in development, or are there other ways to implement a donation campaign into a Joomla article?
Best regards,
Jlaner

Hi Jlaner
What do you mean by Donation Campaign Plugin ? You want to be able to display list of campaigns within an article so that users can choose to donate for the campaign they want to donate ?
Please explain more detail about your ideas .
Regards,
Tuan

Hi Tuan,
my idea is to create several donation campaigns inside several articles. For example, I have written a journalistic article in German and could let it translate into the two other languages of my website: English and Russian. But at the moment I don't find editors in England and Russia who could pay a professional translater for a whole translation. So I want to give Russian and English reading visitors of my website the opportunity to make these translations possible through donation.
It could work like this:
- I create an article for the English translation of the German original with a short description of the content. Then I include inside this article a donation campaign that is directed to the English translation of the German article. When the needed amount is reached, I give the German original to the translater. When the English translation is ready, I replace the donation campaign inside this article by the translation.
- At the same time I create an article for the Russian translation of the German original with a short description of the content. The other steps will be the same as for the English article.
- If this model should work, I could also imagine to start donation campaigns for German articles in case I don't find editors for a basic story.
So I would like to be able to run at least three donation campaigns at the same time. And every donation campaign should be integrated into an article. A visitor of my website will see the header of the donation campaign article in a list of articles. When he clicks on the header, the donation campaign article will open up. Here he will see the short content description and - if possible - the special donation campaign box, so that he can donate for this translation or basic story.
By the way, the original idea for this comes from spot.us . The difference to my project is that I want to keep it more simple so that it can be realized with Joomla, Joom Donation and in the current structure of my website.

Jlaner

Hi Tuan,
after explaining my idea in detail some days ago, it would be nice to receive some kind of response.
Meanwhile I have started to work with the component. So I have translated the English description to German. Before I install the new release of the component, I would like to save this translation and add it to the new installation. How can I do that? If it is helpful, I can send the translation also to you.

Tuan,
this is really amazing: When I asked you questions before I bought the component, you responded within minutes. When I asked a very important question after the purchase, you don't respond for two weeks. I really didn't expect that, and I still don't believe it.

Hi Jlaner
Your requirement is abit difficult to understand, so I thought I will have more time to think about it . It will be best if you contact me via Skype , YM , MSN or Gtalk so that we can discuss directly about it .
Thanks,
Tuan

Tuan,
I didn't know that your standard communication channels for Joom Donation support are Skype , YM , MSN or Gtalk. I thought I can simply ask you questions in the forum and get answers in a reasonable time.
What is difficult to understand in my questions about a donation campaign plugin and about how to save translations before update?

Tuan,
it would already be helpful to know how I can save my German translation of the Joom Donation Component before I do the update to the new release. So I could start to work with the component without the risk to lose my data in the update process.

Meanwhile I have found a way to save the de-DE.com_jdonation.ini file. The translation also works after the Joom Donation Component has been updated.
Now I am trying to translate the text of the "Donation Page Message" above the donation form. I couldn't find a field for this in the translation section. And if I try to change the original text in the backend, it will not be changed in the frontend. There is still the old text displayed. How can I change or translate this text?
