modules installed successfully but don't show up

Hello, I have unzipped and installed plugins and modules for Joom Donation, Joomla 2.5. BUT there is one problem: modules do not show up in the module manager on the back-end of a website. I have checked on ftp and I can see that they have been downloaded and contain files. Any ideas and suggestions would be much appreciated!
