I installed joomdonate and added the form to an article, but the email field is being populated by a script.

Hi
The problem caused by a plugin in Joomla called The problem cause by a Joomla plugin called Content - Email Cloaking . Just go to plugin management , search for this plugin, unpublish it and the problem will be solved .

I don't believe the Email Cloaking plugin is the root cause. I have it enabled on another site and am not having the same problem with the email field. Plus from a security perspective, I imagine turning off Email Cloaking is not recommended.

Any other thoughts on possible causes?
