Hello,
This recommendation refers to the way the SKU of the product changes when a product has one and especially more than one option.
When I select an option, then the SKU changes to the SKU defined for that specific option.
The problem is that if the product has two options, then when the second option receives a price, the SKU changes completely to the SKU of that price of the second option. Now, the SKU is not related to the value that the first option has received.
An idea to fix this is to make the SKU work the same way as the price. Every time an option changes, the basic SKU will stay as it is and at its end the SKU of each option value will be added.
Let's say we have a product with SKU A100. We have the size option with small (S) or medium (M) and the color option with red (R) or black (B ).
If we choose the options small and black, the product SKU will be A100 + S + B, so it will be A100SB. Or a slash could be used automatically: A100-S-B.
Maybe some people want specific SKU per option value, so there is an idea to easily have both ways working:
If we put the plus sign (+) in front of the SKU for a specific option value, the SKU will be added at the end of the basic SKU instead of replacing it.
I hope you like the idea.
