It would be great if we could click on a button and create a pdf file with all the items we have available in e-shop with their options and costs.

Almost. A button or feature that would allow you to export all published products with description and price as a PDF or other e-catalog.

Dont do it per click from website visitors, that would never work, and you are correct, it would timeout constantly.

Instead, add it as a plugin on the admin side, a checkbox to enable it by the admin, then have a CRON file we add to our host to run the script once a week or whenever we want, and have it generate the PDF server side. Then add a "Download Catalog" link to joomla's menu manager for Eshop so we can link to the file from any menu. That way we could all create a "download catalog" menu item or link and publish it to our site.

Doing it this way generates the file only once, or at least as often as we set the CRON to run, and then customers download it.
