Resize original image to save web space

Hi,

Customers do not always know how they can resize the productimages themselves.
This will quickly fill the web space with the original images.
Is there a possibility to also resize the original image up to 1200 pixels wide, for example?
So that not much web space is used.

The system auto resize the images to the size that you putted under EShop -> System -> Configuration -> Image tab.

The resized images are saved in media/com_eshop/products/resized/
But the original image is also saved in media/com_eshop/products/
So, when the Original image is for example 7 mb big it takes a lot of space on the server.
I know the original image is used when you change the dimensions on the Image tab but it would be very handy if it would be possible to resize the original image on upload to for example 1200X1200. So it doesn't fill the webspace with unnecessary big images.

Is there a way to resize the original image on upload to a specified size?

I also have clients who upload +60.000KB files , even after explaining them several times ..
