Choose which categories in advanced search was created by Peter
Hi,
is this possible: to show only the maincategories in the advanced search?
When adding products you can add them to a subcategory and an main category.
I am using the advanced search. with many , many subcategories. This way of showing all the categories makes the list very long.
Maybe a next version?
Regards, Peter

This is happening also with the brands and options and attributes.
I have 200+ categories, 200+ brands and many options. Its irrelevant to display all the brands if user is in one category which has just 3 brands between the products. The solution would be a Filter module with ajax which displays only those brands, attributes in which category the customer is and when click the checkbox the module filters automatically without pressing a search button....
I have managed this with CSS, Peter you can do this as well, it will work.
.eshop_advanced_search #eshop-categories ul li {display:none;}
.eshop_advanced_search #eshop-categories ul li:nth-child(3) {display:block;}
.eshop_advanced_search #eshop-categories ul li:nth-child(7) {display:block;}
.eshop_advanced_search #eshop-categories ul li:nth-child(4) {display:block;}
*the child item numbers are the categories which you want to display.
PS: Maybe you found out an other solution since you posted this, if yes, please let me know as well.

Hi Peter and Andras,
Sound like this is an outstanding requirement and it is not supported by our extension. If you guys want to have it, I am afraid that you must do it by yourself. Hope that Andras's solution work well.
Sincerely, Giang
