Hey Giang,
I think the current customer messages are quite restricted. We cannot add extra messages and expand on the message system.
I would like the option the create more of my own messages. Maybe you could make it to connect to status change. So we could set it up like: 'If status is changed to X then send message Y.' Where Y is any custom message we create.
The generic order change message; order is changed from status X to status Y is far too limited. I would like for example custom message for items that are sent back by customer, a message I could sent couple of weeks after delivery to ask people to review my site and or the product etc.

Hello Hans,
Thank you for suggesting this. It is a bit complex and I think that not many people need this. However, I will think more about it once I have time and if it is useful, I will try to implement it.
Sincerely, Giang

Hey Giang,
I was already worried this would be a bit complex. Have given it some more thought and came up with something.
How about if you make an extra option with status change to send a 'custom message'. When choosing this, you would be sent to the message editor for creating a custom message. Maybe allow to preset a default template (with logo etc) but to add the custom message in editor when this option is chosen.
This would already be very usefull to me.

Hi Hans,
Actually, you can edit the custom message for that now. Why don't you edit it as the way that you want?
Sincerely, Giang

Hey Giang,
Thx for the suggestion. I could do that sure. But in most cases I will send standard message after order has been shipped.
Maybe my second suggestion is a bit too specific.
So let's stick with the first one. I really believe it would open up more and better messaging opportunities if you could create messages and connect them to status changes. Maybe just leave that on the long term list.

Hi Hans,
For now, please use the supported features of messages. I don't think that creating messages is useful. It is a bit complex to connect between message and feature.
Sincerely, Giang

Hey Giang,
I saw that in a recent update you have made some changes to notifications and it is now possible to send Notification e-mail or Shipping notification e-mail. Quite nice addition.
This got me thinking about my suggestion. What if, instead of connecting status change to specific messages as I suggested before, you just add the option to send a custom message from drop down list or something in the screen where you can change order status and send notification or shipping notification. More or less same as you have now added the shipping notification option.
Maybe this would be easier? Just a thought! Still think possibility for creating extra messages would be a nice addition

Hi again Hans,
To be honest, I think that your requirement is rather outstanding. The "order status change email" must be connected to "order status change message" and "shipping notification email" must be also connected to "shipping notification message". There is no other ways.
Sincerely, Giang
