Custom Event Field required?

I don't seem to be able to make a custom event field required. I can add the required="true" attribute to the field, and it appears with an asterix in the form, but the event submission form can be submitted with nothing in the field. Am I missing something, or is it not possible to make the field required?

Currently, we do not have any validation for event custom fields yet. Do you need it for frontend, backend or both?

I will try to find a way to support it in near future

I only need it for the frontend, however having the option of one or the other (or both) would be amazing, too.

I'm thinking about only support this behavior on Joomla 4. So the question is are you using Joomla 3 or hopefully, Joomla 4 or 5 at the moment ?
