Not all Menu options work was created by Ernie
I was trying to select an attractive display for events on a client site. Events are their main function, so I want to use an Events Booking component on the home page.
I chose Category - Timeline Layout, and Joomla will not save it. I get the error:
Error
Save failed with the following error: The home menu item must be a component.
Are not all of the options shown in the dropdown for menu options for Events Manager Components?
If not, why are they being shown?
I found one that worked (Events Booking » Categories - Events List), but it's not the one I want.
I tested selecting some of the options in a different menu (other than Home), and they seem to work - apparently Joomla has some kind of restriction that the layouts don't all recognize.
Please advise.
Thank you,
Ernie

Before I submit a ticket, may I ask what you suspect it is? This site uses a RocketTheme template based on their Gantry 5 framework.
I have several other sites that are pretty much the same that I will be installing Events Booking in early next year as I begin to move clients away from extensions that don't support PHP 8 and Joomla 4.
I'll likely encounter this issue again, so it will be helpful to to know what it is that you think is the issue so I can handle it myself when I install it to other sites.
Thank you,
Ernie

Hi Ernie
I must be honest that I don't know the reason yet, that's why I have to check it directly on your site. The menu item saving is handled by Joomla, the error message indicate that there is something wrong with Home menu item setup somehow:
So submit a support ticket as I mentioned, I will check and tell you the reasons and solution so that if you get the same error in the future, you can still get it addressed
