Confirmation email(s) not being recieved, SSL was created by plainenglish1
Hi,

First of all nice work with the component, its very flash.

Secondly, I have configured everything and it all works rather well, however i have set up a couple of test events and have registered a few times to see if everything works, which is does except that no confirmation emails are sent to the registrant nor the administrator after a booking has been made. I have put in an email address for it to use...however nothing is coming through.

Thirdly, I want to set up a secure section for bookings, I have a couple of SSL certificates, how do I integrate them into Event Bookings?

Cheers

=> Do you see the registration records from back-end after performing registration ? If you see the registration records and don't receive notificaiton emails, there must be something wrong in the mail settings of your server. Could you follow the instruction in this post joomdonation.com/index.php?option=com_ku...atid=62&id=9055#9056 to check whether the mail function works well on your site ?

You just need to go to Event Booking -> Configuration, set "Activate HTTPS" config option to Yes . Also, please get the plugin below, install and publish it. After that, SSL will work well .

Tuan

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm gonna take it one at a time. Thanks for linking to the SSL plugin.

[strike]For the confirmation emails, I've narrowed it down to something from with the mailer. When I set it to use the PHP Mail Function, it gives this error:

Could not instantiate mail function.

I'm doing a few searches on other joomla forums, but I figured you may also know how to rectify this?[/strike]

Never mind the above couple of lines, got it fixed, changed it to 'Sendmail' instead of the PHP Mailer.

It depend on the hosting you are using. If PHP Mail Function doesn't work, please try to use Send Mail or SMTP Server option (usually Send Mail option should work) .

Yeah, thanks for your help :)

So, I've installed that plugin and enabled HTTPS and now I get this (from my browser) when I register for an event:

You have asked Firefox to connect
securely to beta.plainenglishfoundation.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely,
sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are
going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.

Technical Details

beta.plainenglishfoundation.com uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for cp05.digitalpacific.com.au.

(Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

How do I fix this?

For SSL certificate, you need to ask your hosting provider to install + setting it for you . I don't have experience with that !

The error you are getting usually means the ssl certificate isn't set up correctly. Whomever you purchased it from should be notified of this (most likely your hosting) and tell them the error you receive. The person should still be able to "Make an exception" for your site when that error comes up, but I can see how that error might scare people off. It is either configured wrong or it has expired. If it expired that should be somewhere in the technical details of the error.

You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.

Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".

Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer.

You can see more Details like intermediate certificate that are used in the Details pane.

To explain the error message that you posted in "plain English", the SSL certificate you are using is valid for your webhosting company's server cp05.digitalpacific.com.au but you are trying to use it on beta.plainenglishfoundation.com.

You need a certificate that is valid for beta.plainenglishfoundation.com in order to not see the message, but if you are paying for certificates you might be better off getting one that is valid for plainenglishfoundation.com/www.plainenglishfoundation.com so that it works when you go live (no longer on the beta subdomain). Basic certs are valid for one subdomain only (with the exception that no subdomain & the www subdomain are allowed to be considered the same). A "wildcard" certificate that is valid for *.plainenglishfoundation.com would work for both your beta subdomain now and your root/www subdomain after, but wildcard certs usually cost more.

Talk to your hosting company to find out how they can help you. They might provide support for the new OpenSSL project, which will allow to you generate free SSL certs for whatever domain & subdomain(s) you need.
