Check-in Scanner and Networking App for phones was created by craig kennedy
Hi all, Been using Event Booking for a while, and last year we used the check-in feature where I put together a ticket etc, this year I decided it was time to do more work on building apps for this product, so should anyone be at all interested, I have developed the following apps (not yet available on either Android or Apple stores)
1. Check-in Scanner application (Android and Apple).
Tied directly to the website, scanning the badge works alot faster and is far more reliable than before, it provides a visual of who the person is in the app, while also checking in that person on the website back-end. No login needed, only a token exchange between app and website. It is licensed, dealt with by the plugin on Joomla side with unlimited number of app installs.
2. Event Networking application (Android and Apple)
The networking app is exactly that, again tied to the information available on the events system, an opt-in on the register form to enable the user to be viewable inside the app. The ability to have the app work days before an event, giving registered people the chance to mingle before the event. Chat system built in for messsaging between registered attendies, schedular with 30 min increments to book meetings at the event.
I have a few further tweaks I want to make but these are currently working apps.
Anyone interested drop me an email - ckennedy@cksvcs.co.uk. I am working on the website, few more days time, and it will be active then.
I am also in the process of being able to add it to both Android and apple stores.
Note. This is a new thing for me, I am dabbling in this side of things, my primary role is a tech solutions architect for a product manufacturer in the security industry

The networking app sounds especially useful for events where people want to connect before arriving. The meeting scheduler and built-in chat are nice touches too. I’m also curious how the badge scanning performs with larger events once you have more people using it.

Hi Emma,
Give me a couple of days and I can get a license for you to try it out if you are genuinely interested.

Hi,
well, i somehow did the same. But more for my own use. i made a component that does that via Web Browser via any Device and you don't need any app at all.

Yes, of course the event booking does have support for this, I myself used it before as well, but it is less than efficient and is a it of a pain to get it perfect each time. I thought it might be better to develop a proper app, and to be honest it works significantly faster and easier than the way you describe. Dont get me wrong yours works, ubt I was asked to look at a way to make it more professional, with additonal features, and so this is what I ahve done.
Now the scanner I have not only operates as a checkin for the event hosts, but there is now an additional benefit for those exhibitors at an event, who can now scan the same badge information.

can't see the benefit of installing an App instead using a browser that is available on any device by default.
and i can't see that is slow in any way. so i don't understand that either.
It's responsive, so it works a phone, a tablet and even on a desktop.
no issues here at all.
so, no apps for me anytime soon.
