Image Upload > Citation/Licence Text Field missing (legal issue) was created by SPOTTERON Gmbh
Dear JD Team!
First: Thanks for the wonderful Events Booking component!
We have found a legal issue when using the component at a client site:
Currently, it is not possible when uploading the cover/thumbnail image to add a image source/IP/authorship/license citation.
This is legally mandatory with almost all image licenses, from copyrighted images by a third person to also Creative Commons BY, etc.
In the current version, it seems to not be possible to have a simple text input field beneath the image upload option when submitting/setting up an event either in frontend by a user or in the backend by an admin.
Can that be added, or do we miss something?
Since this can result in legal issues and even damages, we would appriciate a quick reply and solution - thank you!
Thanks and all the best,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan
Honestly, this is a special request and is not supported by the extension. In many years of Events Booking life, this is the first time I received this request. So it is very likely that you will have to customize the code to add this option if it is really needed
However, it is still not clear to me exactly how it should work? Could you please explain more details so that I can understand and maybe I can give you some instructions ?

Hi, thanks for the swift reply!
What is needed would be indeed very simple:
In the back-end admin, as well as in the front-end submission form:
* 1x Text Box (simple HTML input field), called "Caption"
The caption is then displayed in the front end in event detail view simply beneath the image with an own CSS class, like "caption"
Basically what is missing is the standard Joomla caption functionality, which you also can find in each article's images tab.
Example image from Joomla 5 articles backend:
Frontend example of caption display in J5 standard template demo Cassiopeia:
(it is basically simply a text below the picture with own css class)
Is that a thing you can envision to patch in?
I cannot speak for others, but I would like to emphasize that this results in a legal issue and/or risk for our clients, when we are using events booking for their websites. The topic was raised to us as the service provider/contractor by a professional legal audit team. Depending on the country and legal framework, having a citation option (via caption) can be mandatory by law, even, e.g. for licenses like CC0. So adding a caption text field would solve that risk by a simple step.
We can also contribute financially to the development if that would help to speed things up. If that is an option, please reach out to me in a pm, or with our registration email to talk details - thanks!
Modifying the code ourselves is sadly not really feasible, since that would likely break future update compatibility and reduce stability, and basically would mean to fork the component.
all the best!
