ics Override Template was created by Sean
When an .ics file is created, short description field details are used. I want specific details from an event in the description and the lack of formatting and respecting of line returns provides an unsightly appearance. Example: Event Title Event Date Details Event Description.
I need:
Event Title
Event Date Details
Event Description
Virtual Meeting Details
How can this be achieved using either custom fields, or a custom code file within joomla?
Regards
SP

Hi Sean
On add/edit event screen, please look at Metadata tab. There is a setting called ICS Content. Put the text you want to use for ICS file and it will be used instead of Short Description by default. That should work for your need

Tuan

Hi Tuan,
I am facing the same issue as well. The main problem here is, the ics content doesn't support any formatting or html, which means, all the content gets jumbled in a single line, and make it not only difficult to understand, but also looks so unprofessional.

Hi Arbind
I will have to check it again. But from what I know, ICS does not support HTML. You can try to use ICS Content field as I mentioned above, it might work better

Tuan

Hi Tuan,
I attempted the suggested approach yesterday with line breaks. It failed the test for layout with all items in ICS section (multi line) being concatenated. In online programming forums the suggestion of \n or \r\n is made for ICS files, but that is ignored by the system as well...it results in just printing line1\n line2\n etc.

Hi Sean
The line break should work. Maybe you can submit a support ticket so that we can check it directly on your site to see why it is not working ?
