Smart Search - omit past events? was created by Liam Hanks
Is there a way to omit or exclude past events from the smart search results? I'd like users to be able to use our site search to find upcoming events, but old events are really not useful, and tend to "pollute" the search results. If there isn't currently an option for this, it would be a great addition.
Thanks

Hi Liam
Unfortunately, this is not possible because one event is indexed, it will be searchable through Joomla smart search. There is no way for Joomla to know if that's a past or future events
One way I am thinking about is we can try to have a scheduled task to automatic delete indexed data of past events. I will see if it could be implemented
Regards,
Tuan

Hi Tuan,
That makes a lot of sense about the index.
A scheduled task is a really interesting idea! I look forward to any updates you might have about this.

Hi Liam
I have it implemented this weekend. You can access to My Downloads menu item, download latest package of Events Booking and update it to your site
Then create a scheduled task for Events Booking - Delete Past Events Index task type and it will work as you want. See docs.joomdonation.com/eventsbooking/sche...te-past-events-index

Hi Tuan,
I just tried out the scheduled task, and it doesn't seem to work. After running the task, old events still appear in the search results (I tried clearing the cache in case the results were cached, but no luck). The task appears to run successfully, it's just that the indexed events are still in the index.

Hi Liam
That's strange. Maybe you can submit a support ticket sending us super user account of your site so that I can check that directly on your site ?
