Can't disable reminder emails globallly

My client's members have been getting the reminder emails that they've paid and don't forget to show up for events, event if they've cancelled their registration for that event.

My client has asked for now until this issue is fixed, to disable all reminder emails as it's causing confusion and their phone is ringing off the hook from members who've cancelled and keep getting reminder emails so they think they are still registered somehow.

There are over 130 events, which all have reminder emails enabled and dates/times set up in each event detail on the backend.  I don't want to have them go through all 130 events and change that, so i thought if I disabled the System - Events Booking Reminder PLUGIN, it would stop all reminders from going out, but that is not the case.  The plugin is disabled but the email reminders are still going out.

Question 1:
How can I fully disable the auto reminder emails?

Question 2:
Is there is a fix for the auto reminders to not send reminders to people who have cancelled?

1. The system does not send reminder emails to cancelled registrants. So I'm thinking that the emails are being sent from a different site (like a copy of the site running elsewhere which these registrants haven't cancelled yet)? If you have a site like that running else where, disable the plugin System - Events Booking Reminder on that site

2. To disable sending remainder, you can just disable plugin System - Events Booking Reminder
