Add registrant from front end not able to select existing user

EB version: 4.8.0
Previously we have been able to add new registrants via the front end. When we try to add registrants using the search function, we can search AND find the user we want to add, but we can't select the user to allow the majority of fields to be filled in from existing database fields.
The searched for user cannot even be added by the super user via the front end.
The searched users name is under-lined but this is not an active link.
Adding a user via the back end works, the searched user is underlined AND an active link. Selecting the name results in the required fields being populated.
Our event managers are allowed to add new registrants but currently this is not possible.

That's strange to me. Could you please submit a support ticket sending us super user account of your site and link to Registrants Management page so that I can check to see why it is not working and get it sorted

Just for information, it causes by some changes in Joomla 5 and it was fixed sometime ago. The issue happens because on your site has override base on old code of the extension. I fixed that override and the error is gone
