Registration Failure was created by Chris Jarvis
Hello
I have received a few questions this week from people trying to book onto our events where they have said that once they try to process their payment they get a message saying

REGISTRATION FAILURE
Your registration failed
Reason  String could not be parsed as XML

We are still receiving bookings from other visitors but have probably had 2-4 unrelated people contact us this week saying they can't book their places because of this error.

Any help or advice would be welcome thanks.

It isn't the same event that people are trying to book on to. We have had enquiries from people trying to book on different courses to each other.

Please let me know if you need any further information or what it could be.

Thank you.

Hi Chris

What payment method you are using and get this error? Maybe you can contact payment gateway support, ask them to check to see why we are receiving that error (the error message is returned by payment gateway)

Base on their response, we can check it further

Regards,

Tuan

Thanks Tuan
We only use the one payment gateway for every registration and that is eWay.
Today we have had 4 people register for different events and all paying through eway with no problem.
Yesterday we had 30 people register and pay using eWay and only 1 person got that message.
The day before that we had 8 people pay using eWay but 3 people got failed due to the XML message.
I can contact eWay if you need me to and find out what they are seeing.
Do you want me to do that?
Thanks as always for getting back to me so quickly Tuan
Really appreciate it.

Hi Chris

Yes. Please contact Eway support and ask them about the error. They should have more clue about from their logs (they should see wrong data passed from the system to Eway) and tell us what's wrong so that we can check it

Or if it is possible, maybe you can purchase and switch to use Eway Responsive Shared Page payment plugin which can be purchased from Eway Responsive Shared Page

It redirect users to Eway for processing payment and will be more reliable

Hi again Tuan
I have contacted Eway and they are looking into the failed payments for me.
I have added the Eway Responsive Page payment plugin to Events Booking and Membership Pro and it looks really good.
However it didn't honour a payment for American Express cards.
Could this be an issue with the card or does the plugin not support American Express?
We get quite a few people using that for registrations and payments.
Thank You

Hi Chris

Exactly what's the problem with payment for American Express cards ? Payment could not be processed with that card type ? Or payment is processed, but the status of the record is not changing to paid/active ?

UPDATE: REALLY QUICK VERSION OF THE PROBLEM

Can the new Payment Plugin please support Amex cards like the old Eway payment plugin does?

Because I get a message saying it doesn't but we get quite a few people paying with it.

And can it also show the new Payment Type against each record like the old Eway payment plugin does in the drop down values list?

Because on my records it shows as Payment Type and in the values there is only the old Eway showing, not the new Responsive one listed.

Thanks
