Image Quality

Has anyone had a problem with event images looking very poor as if they are low resolution blown up larger?

If I display events using a menu item "Event Booking - display events by category" (as an example, other methods are have the same problem) all the event images are displayed blurred/pixelated as if it were a tiny thumbnail displayed at a much larger size. If I click on the image to see the event details, I have the same problem with the displayed image. If I then click on that image, I get a larger perfectly clear image. This has happened all the time when using Joomla 3 but I put up with it because I thought the problem would go away with Joomla 4/5. However, the problem is still there.

I have messed around with the settings in the Configuration/General Settings/Image Settings but although changing the thumbnail sizes setting does change the size of the image, the pixelation is still there. My latest test was to upload an image of resolution 1100px by 800px and the thumbnail size settings to 1100px wide and then again with 300px wide and then again with 50px wide and the problem remains.

The key point is configure the the right thumbnail size. Then edit events, save it again to have the system re-generate thumbnail with new size

Hi Tuan,

I think the component Event Booking should have either
1) a new option to do just nothing with the images and let them as they are uploaded
2) or support different sizes of images

because if you have configured different sizes of images (and I have) then there is always a mess with the automatic resizing because it never fits all sizes...that's a real pain.

Yes. I have been thinking about additional thumbnail sizes and allow choosing for each view/menu item type
