Search in custom fields with special characters

Hello,

for a customer we extended the available custom fields by modifying the fields.xml file.
Everything works fine except one thing: for fields of type editor the content is not found if it contains special characters (Umlaute in German like ä,ü,ö).
For e.g. text or text area fields that's no problem. Is there a way to overcome this issue?

Not sure how you search for these fields? The reason is because the event custom fields, by default, is only used to display more information about the event. Searching, is actually, not supported

we actually use the standard EB search module.
In former versions of the component, search in custom fields was not supported indeed (I therefore patched the file components/com_eventbooking/models/list.php), but in recent versions search in custom fields is obviously supported.
You can see that on the following site:

Search module is included in the top menu (last menu item). If you search e.g. for "Religionslehrkräfte" (which is part of a custom field of type text) an event is found. But if you search e.g. for Trömper (which is part of a custom field of type editor) the search result is empty. Search for any string without special characters is successful for any type of custom field.
Maybe you can take a look at that?
