Events Booking » Upcoming Events - Timeline Layout

Is there a why when using Upcoming Events - Timeline Layout to have older events still appear? I have tried the Configuration > General > Hide past events to no. We want some of the old events to stay if there are not enough events current to populate the page. We tried recurring events, but my client did not like all the instances of the event appearing. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

If you want to display past events using that layout, please switch to use Category - Timeline Layout menu item type instead.

Then past events will also be displayed using that layout
