Joomla 5 compatibility was created by Thomas Hartmann
Hi Tuan,
I just want to ask if there is still any information about the compatibility of Events Booking with Joomla 5?

I tried to install Events Booking on a Joomla 5 testsite (alpha 3) but I got this error when I try to open the dashboard:
0 EventbookingModelCommonRegistrants::buildQueryColumns(): Argument #1 ($query) must be of type JDatabaseQuery, Joomla\Database\Mysqli\MysqliQuery given, called in /xxxxxxx/webseiten/joomla5/administrator/components/com_eventbooking/libraries/rad/model/list.php on line 251

Hi Martin

Yes, I'm aware of the issue although I do not know how it happens yet and do not have a good solution

We can fix it easily but the problem is that we will need to find a way to have it works well with Joomla 3 (unfortunately, we still have to support Joomla 3 as there are still customers use it) and also have it compatible with override which customers made before

(I really care about backward compatible changes in the extension so that it is safe to update)

Give me some more times to work on the extension and have it compatible with Joomla 5. It's the last thing but will take sometime for us to find solution

Regards,

Tuan

Hi Tuan,

thank you for the very fast reply!

I understand what you mean, of course backward compatibility is a good thing but I thought the difference between Joomla 4 and 5 is not that big but I don't understand much from the coding behind ;)

However I am sure you will find a good solution.

In theory, we should not have to make any changes to make the extension compatible with Joomla 5. However, there are many changes in the code (technical things, end-users are not aware of) which could cause this kind of potential issue

But leave it to me. We will come up with a solution

Tuan

Hi Martin

We spent sometime to work on the extension to make it works with Joomla 5. If you want to test it with Joomla 5, please access to My Downloads menu item, download latest package of Events Booking and upgrade it to your site. Then it will work well with Joomla 5

Tuan
