Email Notifications Stopped Working was created by Tony LaRosa
After applying Event Booking version 4.1.2, the system no longer sends email notifications. We are on Joomla! version 3.10.9.  The settings under Event/Configuration and Global Configuration/Server have email enabled.  Under Global Configuration/Server the setting is PHP Mail, but an email is never received when selecting Send Test Mail.  Also, the Email Log under Event Booking/Tools indicates the messages have been sent, however, no one is receiving their email notification.

That indicates that the mail settings is wrong or the mail server could not deliver email to target email address for some reasons. For this, you will need to contact your hosting provider and ask them to check to see why email is not delivered. Maybe you can switch to use SMTP option (Joomla provides different options for sending emails which can be changed in Global Configuration)

I contacted my email service provider and they told me that the server was not receiving requests from the Event application even though the Event/ Tools log file showed it was being sent. I have enabled everything I can think of in the Event/Configuration settings. Is there a Plugin I need to enable? There is something call Authentication - Gmail and Authentication LDAP. They are currently Disabled; should they be enabled?

Hello Tony

No, these plugins do not need to be enabled. If you see email logged, that mean Events Booking already calls Joomla API for sending email. So somehow, mail settings are wrong. As you mentioned, event send test mail - an option from Joomla core- does not work, too.

Maybe you should change mail settings to use SMTP option instead?

In Global Configuration/Server, I set the email to PHP and SMTP, then sent a Test Email to several of my email address and all were received within a few minutes.

You suggested that mail settings are wrong. Which settings should I be looking for?

Hello Tony

Please set it to SMTP, then make sure it works. After that, submit a support ticket sending us super admin account of your site so that I can try directly on your site using my own email to see if it works or not
