'Publish up' and 'Publish down' down fields in Events. What are they?

When you create an events there are 'publish up' and 'publish down' down fields. I assumed that if you fill these fields in it would determine when the event is published and unpublished.
I tried a test setting the event to be published  and with Publish up date in the future (ie greater than today's date). I expected not to see that event on the website, but it was there.
So I am not sure what these 2 date fields do. I could not see anything in the EB documentation for these fields.
I also noticed that if you create a recurring event the publish up date if you set it, is not carried through to the child events.
So my question is what is the use of these fields and how should I set them?
Kind regards
David

In short, if it is entered, it will work exactly as Publish Up and Publish Down settings in Joomla articles:

1. Event will only be shown from Publish Up

2. After Publish Down, it should not be shown anymore

This is in the page which events are being listed (for example upcoming events timeline layout page...)

Hi Tuan,
Interesting.  I set an event with a 'Publish up' date of 08/05/2022 - See screen shot, (event entry) so from what you said this event should not show until 8th May, 2022
However, the event shows on an Upcoming Events Menu Item (table layout) - See screen shot (event display)
So, I am bit puzzled??
This is not urgent problem as I am not using this feature at the moment, I was just testing a few options.
Kind regards
David

That's strange to me. If you can, please submit a support ticket sending us super admin account of your site, link to the page and tell me ID of the event which is having this issue

I will check to see why it is not working as expected and get it sorted

Hi Tuan,
Firstly, I think I found the problem related to publish up date. I think it was cache on our server. We have a cache cleaner that runs overnight once this was run when we displayed the event with 8th May Publish Up  date , it worked as intended, so my apologies for that.
However, we still have a problem with child events or it maybe the way EB works.?
We set up a recurring event using the recurring event feature, in our case the event repeats weekly on 3 specific days (mon, wed and fri)
All the dates in the child events Start, End, Registration Start and Cut off dates Cancel Registration before date adjust correctly.
However, the Publish Up, Publish Down , , Edit Registration  dates do not get adjusted, they remain the same as the Parent.
I have attached screen shots to show you the Parent and Child events
Is this  correct?
David

Hello David

Yes, As of right now, these dates are not calculated base on data of parent event. I will see if I can update code to handle it in next release of the extension

Regards,

Tuan
