When I register a new event with the simple (!) registration from in frontend, I cannot set the cancel_before_date. But in the database table eb_events the field cancel_before_date will then be set to NULL causing a wrong date showing up in event detail view in frontend.
When I register from backend or default registration from in frontend, the same field (when left empty) will be equal to event start date.
I can also empty the cancel_before_date in the data base. It is still fine in frontend. But when I set it NULL it shows the described behavior.
So, you might make sure when someone uses the simple event registration form that the cancel_before_date field is not NULL. Maybe it is also wrong to have default value = NULL on this field in DB.
