Event Registration Access Level was created by Chris Jarvis
Hello all
I am looking for a bit of help please
I have just launched my first event where I am restricting event registration to a new Access Level. I have left the event as Public as I want anyone to see it but you can only register for this event if you have already attended a previous event with us and been assigned a Joomla access level to show that.
All works great so far with this part.
I have added text to the event description which says you can only register for this event if you have met the pre-reqs and eligibity and the event says you must login to register but it doesn't show a login button or anything I can use. On normal events when you click register it shows Already Registered? Login Here OR New Registration options. Please let me know if I am missing anything for the registration button to show publicly but then only show the Already Registered? Login Here option.

So I have added a hyperlink in the description text that says Please click here to login to register and that hyperlink is to a direct URL of the event regsitration page if that makes sense.
Clicking the hyperlink points to www.domain-name.com/new-event/individual-registration
Clicking this takes you to the login prompt. If you login and have the correct access level assigned to you it redirects perfectly to the registration page which is great

The part I need help with is if someone has a user account with us already but isn't a part of the new access level to register for this event. They might not know this or haven't realised they are not eligible to register. If they click the hyperlink above to register and login all OK but aren't in the access level for the event, they are redirected to the home page instead. I understand this behaviour but wondered if it was possible to redirect this event back to my main event page before registration?

I hope I am making sense as I feel i'm rambling a bit now

What I would like to achieve is if someone has an account with us but isn't in the access level group to register they are redirected to the main event info page as I can put text on there saying if you have logged in but still can't register, please contact our office to check your eligibility for this event instead of them being redirected to the home page and getting confused.

Is it possible to state a URL for events where people don't have access to register in this case?

Thanks for any help from anyone

Chris

I would say that he should not be allowed to access to that page at all, and redirect to homepage is expected behavior

In your case, if you want, you can get this file, unzip it, upload to folder components/com_eventbooking/view/register folder and it should work as you want

Regards,

Tuan

Thank you so much Tuan.
You are such a good guy and massive help every time.
Your solutions always hit the target for me and always so quickly.
I totally agree with you that the redirect to the homepage is the expected behaviour and it works as it should because I am restricting registration to 1 access level.
I was really pleased what I could create from the settings already available from you in Events Booking. They are so flexible.
I just realised that some of our members who have a login will want to register for this event and won't read or know they are not allowed. They will just login and expect to register. If they landed on the homepage they will tell me our website doesn't work when it does.
What you have provided for me will save so much time and makes it very clear why they still can't register now.
It is perfect and thanks again.I love it and am always amazed how you just know what to do and do it so quickly.
I'll never learn everything you know - you are superb at what you do you know.
Do i need to copy the html file back each time Events Booking gets an update Tuan?
No problem at all if I have to - I will happily do it each time as the functionality you have given me is brilliant. Just wanted to remember to do it if so.
I have also changed the Translation message that comes up if you aren't in the Access Level too and this reads perfectly as well now.
The translation part is another superb feature of your products too by the way. Again you think of everything

Hello Chris

You said so many nice words about me, so I have to spend more time to help you further, LOL. You can:

- Create a folder called override under components/com_eventbooking/view folder on your site
- Inside that folder, create another folder called register, so we now have components/com_eventbooking/view/override/register
- Finally, get this file, unzip it, upload to folder components/com_eventbooking/view/override/register above. You will then won't have to worry about it when updating your site to latest version of Events Booking anymore

Regards,

Tuan

You're a classic Tuan
I typed the nice words because you helped me so much before. Now I have to type more nice words because you helped me again LOL
This could just keep going round and around
Top class thanks - I don't know what more to say.
You are just so good
I will setup the override folders but JUST ANOTHER BIG, BIG THANK YOU!!
If anyone happens to come across this thread that is a current user of JoomDonation extensions or is even thinking about purchasing one, take this as proof you just won't get this level of support from anyone, anywhere else that you do here. Please purchase or renew your extensions EVERY YEAR
The only thing better than the amazing extensions is the support you get for them

Stay Safe Tuan - We need more people like you in the world
