Member exclusivity event booking period was created by Roy Chappell
Hi Tuan

I'm using Membership Pro & Event Booking

We want to give our members a 2 week exlusivity period where they can book an event before it is released to the public.

Is this possible with the 2 extensions?

thaanks

Hi Roy

There is no easy way but there could be a workaround. You can:
- Configure Membership Pro so that when users subscribe for your plan, they will be assigned to certain Joomla user groups you want. See membershipprodoc.joomservices.com/joomla-groups-integration

- Create a new access level, only choose the above Joomla user group for that event

- At the beginning, you set Registration Access of the event to the above created access level

- Then after 2 weeks, set Registration Access to Public

That could be used as a workaround to handle this requirement

Hi Tuan

thanks for your reply.

The trouble with that approach is that we would have to manually change the access level of the events 1 by 1. If EB admin had a batch feature like in core Joomla then the manual process of changing access level would be quicker. Do you plan on introducing a batch process?

Another possible appoach would be to make all events public. Then create 2 modules, restricting the modules visibility based on access level
Module 1 (member)
module would show events based on creation date plus 14 days

Module 2 (public)
module would display all other events.

Is this a possible approach? I realise that potentially the public could work out how to book a member event, but I think that's a worthy trade off

I'm even thinking of getting someone to create a Cronjob to change the access level 14 days after creation.

Any thoughts you might have on the above would be appreciated

thanks
Roy

Hi

a quick addendum

looked at your competitors and none of them have a member's exclusivity booking feature, perhaps a good USP for your business
