Events Booking - View module - show only one category was created by Roy Chappell
Hi
I want to use the Events Booking - View module and get it to show only the categories I want. What 'Query String' should I use?
Could you provide examples of how to use the Query String? What queries can you pass to it?
thanks
Roy

Hello Roy,
I'm not a "super" user here but I use a Menu Item with a Menu Item Type: com_eventbooking » Category - Timeline Layout
and select the category I want to display.
You have to set up the categories in EB first
- Category Manager: Categories
Then you can put each event (Event Manager: Edit Event) into the category that you want it to be displayed under.
I hope that this helps.

I have the same question as Roy, and this doesn't answer it.
I want the events from a chosen category to appear on the home page (ie I want the event details on the front page when a user visits the site). I can place a module on the home page but the only one suitable is the View Module where I can select Category as a view but there is nowhere to choose which specific category.
I assume that the query string is used for that, but there are no instructions how to do this. Anyone any ideas?
If I use the menu as Graham suggests, how do I get this to appear on the front page (I don't want to have to select it first from a menu).
Thanks
Dave

Hello Dave,
I'm going to have to be one of those forum users that says "I've never actually done this but obviously the way to do this is. . . ."
I had a look through the various modules (site) with "Events Booking" in the title.
- There must be something for you there
(It looks like you need to know the ID of the categories that you are interested in).
Let me know if this is what you're looking for - I will have learned something as well

Hi Graham,
Yes you'd think there would be something amongst all the modules but none did what I want other than Events Booking - View. However this needed the query string but the documentation doesn't mention this. Roy has answered after this, and what he says makes sense so I think that's the answer.
I also realised that I could create a menu of the Event Booking type that I wanted and then make the item the Default Page. This will then load onto the front page whenever anyone visits the site or clicks "home".

Thank you Roy,
That is exactly what I needed to know. Works a treat. I did get what I wanted by making a menu item, hiding it, and making it the default page. That way the event I wanted loaded up on the front page of the site. However, your method is better as it allows a module to be placed anywhere.
