Getting Membership Pro to generate Event Booking coupon

Hi all,

I want to know if it possible for Membership Pro to automatically create an Event Booking coupon, or enable an existing coupon for each new member.

I am building a membership management system for a sailing club, where new adult sailing members (they could also be social members, who this would not apply to) get a free learn to sail course. When their membership is activated, I want to give them a coupon to use when booking a course. At the moment, the only option I can see is to manually generate a coupon for new members once they have signed up, but this would mean they cannot book courses straight away.

With group memberships, which we use for families, I would want each adult member (over 18) to get their own coupon.

I can probably do this with a trigger on the _osmembership_subscribers table but that is a bit clunky...

Any thoughts?

You would need to write a plugin for Membership Pro to generate coupon code for Events Booking, I'm afraid of. There are no way to handle it automatically

What's the purpose of generating coupon? Give them 100% discount for registering for the course? If so, maybe there is a better way to setup:

- Configure Membership Pro to assign subscribers to Joomla user groups you want, see membershipprodoc.joomservices.com/joomla-groups-integration
- Then edit the event, use Members Discount feature to give users from that group to get 100% discount for registering for the event, see eventbookingdoc.joomservices.com/basic-s...nt#discount-settings

Please try that to see if it works

many thanks for the reply and advice.

The purpose here is for new club members to get either one or two free courses depending on the membership type. They could use this to book any one of three different courses but, once they have had their free course, they would need to pay for the others. Given we do not know in advance which course they will want to book, I do not think making courses free to members will work for us.

I am open to other suggestions but, after taking the club management team through the challenges, we are planning to manage this manually - new members will be sent an event coupon when we approve their membership; in the meantime, they can book a course as normal and select "pay offline". We only get around 20 - 30 new members each year so this should be manageable; if we need to find a way to automate it, I will ask you to help with a plugin!

The process could be automatic via a plugin. If you have resources (money to hire a developer or can do the development yourself), a plugin could be developed so that:

- For each plan, you can select the events you want
- When someone subscribes for that plan, they will be registered automatically to the events which you selected above

So it would be automatic, no coupon would be needed, no manual registration to the event is needed. Developing this kind of plugin would cost you about 60$, I think

Hi Tuan, thanks for the suggestion... unfortunately we will not know which events they want to join - it could be one of two or three sailing courses through the year, or a powerboat training course.

I will stick with the manual approach for now and see if it becomes urgent for the club - like I say, I think new membership numbers are low enough for this not to be an issue.
