On Line Meeting/Webinar: Customize ICS file emailed to registrants? was created by Annamarie Hessman
Related to my Virtual Locations Wish List item -- I would like an event's On Line Meeting URL to be sent in the ICS file that goes out to event registrants., as well as some other details in the event note, usually the kind of stuff I add to an event's User Registration Email Body.
Is it possible to customize the ICS to accept info from a custom field or two?

Hello
I would say that it's hard. To be honest, I don't know how these fields could be passed into the ICS file to make the system uses that ICS file understand that additional data
The whole logic for generating css file is inside the file components/com_eventbooking/helper/ics.php, but I'm afraid of it's hard to customize it to have it works as you want
Regards,
Tuan

OK, I will look at this and the ICS specification and let you know what I come up with -- I think your other users like me who are doing virtual meetings would be really happy to have this in the core product.

My first comment from looking at your PHP file, an ICS generated by it, and an ICS generated by Zoom, is that, for an only-on-line meeting/webinar, the LOCATION: field is where the URL should be placed, and then meeting information prepended to the DESCRIPTION: field.
Since a virtual meeting URL is not necessarily an attribute of a location re-used again and again, an event-level field for that meeting is needed, which I assume would be one of the custom fields.
I can't see in ics.php the object(s) and attributes used as input to the code. I would need to modify the output of $location and $description conditionally, depending on custom field value(s), to achieve my goals.

I would be looking at creating two or more fields at the event level, I think:
1. Virtual Meeting (Only/No/Partial) -- not sure this is the greatest way to name this, but it's the condition for modifying the LOCATION
2. Virtual Meeting URL -- URL to join the virtual meeting
3. Probably Meeting Platform Provider would be smart for future enhancements, eg Zoom, Webex, etc.

Hello
If you want to create more fields to add data for your event, try to use event custom fields, see eventbookingdoc.joomservices.com/basic-s.../event-custom-fields

I have now created the custom event fields. My question at this point is really how to reference the custom fields within the ICS.PHP file. I can see that the ICS generated by Zoom places the meeting_url in the ICS location field, so that's one of the things I would do with my custom fields.
