Hi

I have set up two custom fields in fields.xml:
field_info1 and field_info2

Is it possible to show their value in the confirmation email that gets sent to the user who registers for an event?

Thanks a lot.

Regards
Patrick

Hi Patrick

Try to edit the email message which is sent to registrants when they register for your event and use the syntax [NAME_OF_FIELD_IN_UPPERCASE]. For example [FIELD_INFO1] , [FIELD_INFO2]... and the value of the fields will be sent to registrants via email

Tuan

Hi Tuan

Thanks a lot!

I was wrong, I need it in Short Description and short description gets loaded into email. But your solution works fine in short description :)

Now I need it in event long description as well. So I added [FIELD_INFO1] , [FIELD_INFO2] there. But in frontend the value of these fields is not shown, only the code [FIELD_INFO1], [FIELD_INFO2].

How can I add the value of the custom fields there?

Thank you very much.

Event Long description? Mean you want these value to be shown on the long description on event details page?

Hello Patrick

Honestly, I don't know how it works for short description but not on description.

Could you please send me the link to the page:

- Show me that it works for short description
- Show me that it does not work for description

Hopefully, I will understand the actual requirement and come up with a solution

Regards,

Tuan

Hello Tuan

There is no direct link to an event page showing the short description because the situation is a bit different:

I added [FIELD_INFO1] into short description of the event.

In settings for "Email & Messages" > "Registration Email Messages" > "User email body" I use [SHORT_DESCRIPTION] to show short description in confirmation email to user.

After the user has registered for an event, a confirmation page is shown to him and he receives the confirmation email. Both, confirmation page and email show short description including value of [FIELD_INFO1].

Thank you.

Patrick

So to be more clear, you are saying that when you use [DESCRIPTION] tag which contains name of custom fields, it's not being replaced in the email?

As I can see, and check the code, it should work for both short description and description

Tuan

I have setup an online demo and will send you an email with login data to your services mail address.

I think it's easier if you can see it in the demo. :)

Hi Patrick

The short answer is we don't support it. The custom fields are displayed on the page already, so showing it again in description will cause duplicate information displayed

Anyway, I modified code to support it as I don't really understand your requirement. You can access to My Downloads menu item, download latest package, upgrade it to your site and it will work well
