Hi

If I try to add an event from the frontend, I get:
You don't have permission to add/edit event

Do I have to activate something to make it work?

In this Link you mention that you could configure the simple layout. I don't find it in the configuration options. Where is it?

Yes. It's under Themes tab. The config option is Frontend event submission form layout, set it to Simple Layout and it should work as expected
