Sending a re-confirm mail to ensure they are still coming to the event

Hello.

We calculate a 30-40% drop off rate from someone signing up for our free event.
Is there a way to send a mail and to ask them to re-confirm for the event so we can get a better sense of the numbers?

I guess we could do the reverse which is to insert the cancel registration link, and if they aren't coming they can cancel, but we prefer not to put out the negative first.
