Many thanks

We received the same notice today as well.

We thought we already fixed this issue when we upgraded to the latest version of Membership Pro and edited the PayPal payment plugin to use the new PayPal IPN verification parameter. Apparently, we still have changes that need to be made. Thanks for reporting the email.

The only thing you need to do is turn on new PayPal IPN verification parameter, eventbookingdoc.joomservices.com/trouble...on-postback-to-https

If you still receive that email, then it might happens because:

1. You use other systems which is using PayPal and didn't update to this latest requirement yet
2. Or Maybe PayPal just sends that kind of email to all customers

Tuan

Our client contacted Paypal directly about this email notification. They already updated MembershipPro to the latest version and turned on the new IPN verification parameter but Paypal still said they needed to upgrade.

Paypal says they need to ALSO update the below section in their PayPal account. The PayPal customer service rep recommended that we contact the developers to ensure the proper link is posted below then enable to receive the IPN messages. Can you please advise what link to use here? (see screenshot available below)

Thanks so much!

Hi Becky

I am afraid of these support staff might not understand how PayPal IPN works properly. You don't need to enter any URL into the Notification URL setting. If you want, you can just enter URL of your site into that setting

However, it is not needed as Membership Pro sends the URL it wants to received notification for each transaction in it's code

Tuan

The client activated IPN verification in their Paypal account. Paypal does require that a URL is entered in that field. They entered the full URL of their website like you suggested.

Immediately after doing so, they received this email from Paypal:

"Hello,
Please check your server that handles PayPal Instant Payment Notification (IPN) messages. Messages sent to the following URL(s) are not being received:
www.domainname.com (client domain removed for privacy)
If you do not recognize this URL, you may be using a service provider that is using IPN on your behalf. Please contact your service provider with the above information.
Once you or your service provider fix this problem, you or your service provider can resend the failed messages from the IPN History page. If this problem continues, PayPal may disable the IPN feature for your account.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this issue.
Thanks, PayPal"

Any suggestions on how to proceed? Thanks in advance!

Did they enter full URL? Could you send me the screenshot of that setting to tuanpn@joomdonation.com so that I can check and make sure the URL is valid?

I have the same problem, but our site still uses Joomla 2.5 and I cannot update.
What do I need to change in the PayPal Payment plugin file? thanks!

@WebSeo: What version of Events Booking you are using? I could not find an order from your account (can only see an order base on your domain but it was from 2013), so I don't know how to guide you to patch it
