No menu item in back end for 'author' was created by spitjack
Wondering how a staff contributor gets to create an event if there's no menu access?

Client will be working exclusively from the back end of the site.

a 'spit' is a rod upon which savory food was roasted, turned in ancient times by a worker called a 'jack', a middle English word for an ordinary laborer (eg jack of all trades, steeplejack, lumberjack). Today, this is done by a 19th C machine.

Hi

You will need to change permission to allow them to access to Events Booking from administrator area of your site

Login using a super admin account, then go to Events Booking -> Configuration, click on Options button in the toolbar, select the user group of that user, set the following permissions to Allowed:

- Access Administration Interface
- Create
- Delete
- Edit
- Edit State
- Edit Own

Save it. After that, try again and update us with the result

Tuan

(facepalm) forgot the 'access administrative interface' permission.

Of course, now I have an author able to access registrants, coupons, plugins, etc., which concerns me.

If so, I think you should enable them to manage events/registrants from frontend instead of from administrator area. Events Booking allows you to do that, see eventbookingdoc.joomservices.com/frontend-management

Because this instance will be managed by a professional news organization, the staff will want to work exclusively from the back end, as they will have a great many tasks along with this one.

Unfortunately, we don't support permission configuration for separate items in backend yet, so if you give them access to backend, they can manage all items in Events Booking

Maybe in the future, we can improve permission settings to handle it better, but it will take sometime to get to that point
