Could I get some advice on how best to set up an event that takes place over non-consecutive dates.

It is a 5-DAY course that runs on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday on weekend 1 and then Saturday and Sunday on weekend 2.

For example:
Friday February 16, 2018 8am-4pm
Saturday February 17, 2018 8am-4pm
Sunday February 18, 2018 8am-4pm
Saturday February 24, 2018 8am-4pm
Sunday February 25, 2018 8am-4pm

Note: It is not a recurring event. It is one course spread over 5 days.

The way I plans to set it up now is to have a start date (as per example above):
Start: Friday February 16, 2018 - 8am
End: Sunday February 25, 2018 - 4pm

If there is no other option, how can I hide the end date in the event display as it would inaccurately show:
Friday February 16, 2018 8am - Sunday February 25, 2018 - 4pm?

Hello Alex

I think you can try to use this plugin eventbookingdoc.joomservices.com/miscell...itional-dates-plugin

Each date can be setup as individual event in the system

Tuan

Hi Tuan,

I had a look at the plugin but it looks like it is similar to a repeat event where each date is a separate event. The event I want to set up is only 1 event but it's spread over 5 days, so there is only one sign up option. It's a weekend course that runs Friday, Saturday, Sunday on the first weekend and Saturday, Sunday on the second weekend.

If it's not possible is there a way to adjust how the date/time is displayed?

For example if I set up the 5 day event event it would look like this, but it's misleading,
Fri Feb 16, 2018 8:30 am - Sun Feb 25, 2018 4:30 pm

Thank you!
Alex

Hi Alex

I guess the only way is you include that Multil-day information in the description of event for now. It is not possible to change the display of event date unless you know how to customize the code

Tuan

Building on @Tuan's suggestion, if you wanted the second weekend's event block to show up on the calendar, you could create a second event and set that Event's <Registration Type> to <Disable Registration>, and add a link in the Event Description text back to the primary event for registration.

You could go even a step further by using a re-direct component (eg. reDJ, by selfget) to redirect the second event's <Detail> button url back to the first event's details url. You could do this with the <Register> buttons too if you left registration enabled, too.

Yes, that would work, too. Or if you can customize the code, customize it so that when someone click on a child event, they will be redirected back to parent event so that they can perform registration....

Thanks James. Good tip, although I am not using the calendar display so I found it easier to add a note in the description with the date information. The only concern was the way the start and end date display wasn't entirely accurate.

The redirect is a great idea. I think Joomla has it own redirect plugin too which I had forgotten about.
