Category pages in search results?

Is there a way to make category pages appear in search results, either regular search or smart search? If I build a site and use some category pages (menu items or via the categories module), I can't get any of them to appear in searches. It's a bit limiting to only get events but NOT category pages in search results.

At the moment, we don't support searching for categories. If it is really needed, we can implement search plugins for it

However, at the moment, we are having new year holiday en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T%E1%BA%BFt , so we could not look at it / work on it until we come back on Wednesday next week
