Sending confirmation to gmail.com gives error was created by Tim Vandenberghe
Hi,

When EB sends the pdf confirmation to registrant with GMAIL address, I got next error.

host gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com [2a00:1450:4013:c07::1a]
SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:
552-5.7.0 This message was blocked because its content presents a potential
552-5.7.0 security issue. Please visit
552-5.7.0 support.google.com/mail/?p=BlockedMessage to review our
552 5.7.0 message content and attachment content guidelines. 93si2242532ede.482 - gsmtp

Other domains/mailproviders don't give error.
Any idea what could be wrong ?

Getting emails delivered is a difficult science, in my experience.

To be able to help with this question, it would help to see the headers of a successfully delivered email, even if it is from a different provider. From that, we could figure out if your DKIM, SPF, etc are all OK.

I am having the same problem with MembershipPro and it MAY be because the attached pdf filehas a MIME type application/octet-stream I want to try and change that to application/pdf to see if that helps but can't find where to change the MIME type. All other mail destinations work fine, only Gmail has the problem.

Could you please give me more information? What attachment you are talking about? Is it invoice PDF?

Please let me know so that I can try to check it further

Tuan

Hi Tuan,

Yes it is the invoice pdf that I think MAY be the problem.

Hi,

Dashboard - Configuration - Invoice Setting
(see EB_screenshot1)

Invoice layout is same as standard installation, except names
(see EB_invoice_layout)

Event - Advanced settings - invoice format is same as configuration

Headers of delivered and refused mail also in attached files
(due to pricavy parts of mailaddress replaced by xxxxx)

Tim.

Got a reply from Gmail, maybe it can help to search a solution ?

Hello Tim,

Thanks for stopping by the Gmail Help Forum, and bringing this to our consideration.

Looks like you're unable to send emails from your domain account to Gmail. Ideally, unauthenticated messages are very likely to get rejected by Gmail.

Ensure that messages you sent are authenticated using DKIM (preferred) or SPF.

Please check out these tips for sending bulk messages with Gmail:

Use RSA keys that are at least 1024-bits long. Emails signed with less than 1024-bit keys are considered unsigned and can easily be spoofed.

Gmail combines user reports and other signals, with authentication information, when classifying messages. Authentication is mandatory for every mail sender to ensure that your messages are correctly classified. For best practices, see Gmail's Bulk Senders Guidelines.

Learn how to create a policy to help control unauthenticated mail from your domain.

I'd suggest you please try the troubleshooter to narrow down the issue.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Sarah

Tim,

Are you using an "app password" to authenticate with Gmail or using your actual account settings?

If you go to myaccount.google.com/security and click on "Signing in to Google", you can add an app password there and then use your Gmail account in Joomla's Global Configuration settings for email.

Created a new gmail address for our event, putted it in the Joomla Mail Settings, and everythings seems to work now.
Sender of the mail is now a gmail address instead of our own domain, but we can live with that.

Thanks for the help.

Seeing this response, I understand better what your original issue was. If you decide it is important to you to be able to send mail from your domain and not have it rejected from Gmail (and possibly other mail providers), you will need to make sure the web hosting server's IP address is listed in the domain's DNS SPF record.

If you have access to the DNS for the domain, create a new TXT record and set the value like the following:

v=spf1 mx a ptr ip4:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx a:mail.your-domain.com ~all

Substitute your web server's IP address for xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and your mail domain name for mail.your-domain.com

This record tells the internet that any mail coming from that IP address or mail server is legitimately allowed.
