Upgrade to new version was created by Panos2000
Do I really need to uninstall the previous version first???!!!
Will any of my events get lost-damaged from the uninstallation process? Why can't I install on top like with any other modern component of joomla?
Please advise!

Has anyone else in here upgraded to the latest version? Did you uninstall the previous version first? What happens to your already registered events?

I have uninstalled the previous components and installed the new version in the testing system with only one event. The event and categories remained unchanged, but all menu items had to be reconfigured (or re-saved).

Wow! What about if you had already configured multiple events? Would you have to start setting up new menu items for them? Hm, sounds like a lot of work for something that should be easy implemented from the beginning...
Any comments on this issue from the administration?
Thanks for sharing your experience thinkie! Appreciated!
Anyone else caring to share his upgrade experience?

Hi all,
I uninstalled the 1.1.0 eb component and module, and installed:-
com_eventbooking.zip
AND mod_eb_categories.zip (although not mentioned in the README file?!)
mod_eb_events.zip
plug_search_eventbooking.zip (also not mentioned in README)
plug_cb_ebregistrationhistory.zip (because I have Community Builder)
The cb plugin failed to install with error 'Could not find a Joomla XML file in the package'
The categories, events, locations etc were still there, as were my menu items using eb item types.
However on the front end, i got a 404 error when selecting the event page.
URL had '?Itemid=39&option=' at the end
I went back and looked at the menu item which listed in Basic parameters category= 'Top'.
I changed this to one of my categories. Now the front end lists the category description. However it does not shown any number of event listed in brackets. Might need a bit of tweaking, reconfiguration or ???
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tes

I have 12 events live on my site and don't want to have to go and re-configure all menu items for them.
Thanks for the info tmacp...If people have upgraded to this version, please post issues and work-arounds that you have found...
Thanks in advance!

I just uninstalled the old and installed the new version. Everything that was there is still there, and my event pages are fine.
Now this is just a small one, one Category with mulitple events, but it went fine.
Still waiting on the waiting list function though. I do like the individual advanced prefences for each event...
Thanks,
Brian

Hi all
I am sorry for could not post the instruction before. There are two ways for upgrade :
1. The simplest way is uninstall the old version and then install this new version, all data (events, categories, registrants..... are kept). The only issue is that if you have SEF activated on your site, you might have to re-save the menu items which you created to link to Event Booking(click on the menu item, then press Save). This is a problem with Joomla Uninstall process and hope they will fix it soon (not an issue within the component) . If you don't have SEF activated, and just create few menu items to link to Events Booking, this is the easiest way.
2. The manually upgrade process :
1. Unzip the file com_eventbooking.zip in the downloaded package .
2. Upload all the files and folders under site folder to components/com_eventbooking folder of your site.
3. Upload all the files and folders under [admin] to administrator/components/com_eventbooking folder of your site .
5. Upload the file site/languages/en-GB.com_eventbooking.ini to language/en-GB folder of your site .
4. Login to back-end of your site .
6. Type in the URL : yourdomain.com/administrator/index.php?o...booking&task=upgrade then press enter (replace yourdomain.com with your site domain) .
Hope the instruction is clear. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask !
Thanks,
Tuan

Hi all, an update...
Forgive me for the error, but realised that I had not enabled the two re-installed eb modules (mod_eb_categories, mod_eb_events)
Once enabled, that automatically set up a menu list for each category and an upcoming event list in the left position of the template.
Clicking on a category showed up the description of the category and listed available events below.
However Tuan I am still getting that registration problem where when I submit the user's details, I get 'This web page is not available.' Please help on this if it is an environment set up issue. I desperately need to get it working! (Note to other users, I had this problem in the old version anyway - I am a new eb user so it's nothing to do with the upgrade) Do I need to enable something or set up an article for the registration process to be completed? If you have any draft tutorial or anything that would help me, please send it my way.
Also please can you provide some explanation of how the registration works if you already have an account? I have CB integration too. Does it make a difference if you are already logged in? If you only enter the username, don;t you need the password to verify it is you When I entered the existing username, the form still required me to fill in name, address etc. (and then when I pressed Registration Confirmation of course I got the page error so got no further..)
Can anyone shed light on this if you have figured it out?
Many thanks
Tes

Tuan,
Why other Joomla components can be upgraded by just re-uploading and it will automatically overwrite the older one,
instead of uninstalling and then installing the new version?
Is this something that could be done in the future?
Thanks for all your hard work!
