How to set file-size limit for event submission? was created by Kotisivutohtori
Hello,
we want to set a file-size upload limit for Event Submission form. How can we do this? I don't see any setting/place in the configuration settings to be able to do this. We want to make sure people do not load big mega-size files to the site which would slow the site down. Please advise how to do this and also would be a good point to add to the future versions.
Thanks!

Hi Anne
Unfortunately, at the moment, we don't support this option. So Yes, if there are few more customers request for it, we will add support for it in future releases of the extension
For now, if you worry about people upload file/image with bigger size, change upload_max_filesize setting for your hosting to the number you want (by default, it is 2MB)

Hi,
can you please let me know where the files will be saved? Can we control which folder to use?
Also if we set the RESIZE big image, can we then delete the orginal image without any problems?
We are now using resize thumb, but using resize big image and then from time to time deleting the original, that would maybe work.

Hi Anne
1. Files are stored in media/com_eventbooking/files folder. It is hardcoded in the code, so you will have to customize the code if you want to change it
2. I don't think you can delete big image as it is used on several places in the code for displaying purpose. So better, leave it as how it is

Hi,
can you please give me the exact place where to edit the media-limit issue in the core? This really is a big issue, since the people who submit events are not interested of the size of the images they are using and this has turned out to be a huge issue now. Event submissions have over mega size images. We really need to address this issue. HOw can we prevent this? This also should be one of the feature request issues for later versions.
Secondly, I noticed that Eventbooking has saved big images both in images/com_eventbooking and in media/com_eventbooking/images folders. Both folders have big images (some even over 6MB when the Media limit for the site has been 5MB). Has there been a change in the path in some version?
Does Eventbooking use the Media limit set in the Articles/Mediafiles/Options settings? I have changed it from 5MB to 1MB. Does eventbooking component check this limit or only the limit set by the server?
***
I also checked that the component only uses the thumbs that be have defined. So the original images are not actually in use at the moment. So we are going to test if moving the original images will cause any issues/missing images on frontend.
****
One more question, when deleting an old event, will it also delete the image? If not, again we have a problem (Huston we have a problem).
***
I hope you add these issues to the feature request list and further develop the way Eventbooking is handling images. Website size is a big issue and affect many things (SEO, Google search results, loading times etc). There needs to be some rules.
