Resend email button if we are using SMTP ? was created by raed
Hello every one,
If we are using SMTP and want to Resend emails to registrants I mean I checked all ( say 250 users) then hit Resend email.
-How many emails sends per second?
because the email server has limits per second or minutes, to make sure all emails delivered correctly.
Thanks

Hi Raed
We have no way to know how many emails are sent per second. The system just calls Joomla API for re-sending the email for each registration record (each record will have at least two emails sent, one to admin and one to registrant)
Usually, mail server limit mails can be sent per hour (for example, 150 emails per hour), so if you want to re-send email, I guess you should choose to resend small number of registrants each time - for example, 20 registrants each time, then wait for next hour and performing the next batch)

Nice suggest , but there is a way to control that if put a delay like three seconds in the loop in each record will be taken as precautionary measures especially we face that before in Acymailg "early version" then they put a strong control by adding a queue process configuration which will avoid any SMTP limits if the customer take care of that ." will configure that depends on your SMTP server limits"

I won't implement that. The reason is because usually, this re-send email function is needed if a customer didn't receive email and you want to resend email to them
This feature, honestly, only designed to allow re-sending emails to one or two customers (at a time)
It is not the same with ACYMailing which sending email is their mail feature.
Honestly, in few years of Events Booking life, I haven't heard any customers need resend to large number of customers. So maybe you mis-understand the function of that feature?

I respect your efforts in event booking but when I am rasing a point I am coming from an angle which you cannot see .
If you have 250 people register to an event then 100 people come to your office individually asking where is the email they were not receive it , then its wasting of time to do that again and you have to find another way to do it .
Just adding a small function controling the time between every email is not asking for big thing I was try to see who is faceing that or think about it maybe already maybe there is a way to do it..
If you notice it's not a trouble tickets its a discussion & sharing in forums although it could be a trouple tickets with some type of customers.

Hi Raed
In a real life usage, I would say that there should only few customers missing email for some reasons. So if it is 100 over 250 like in your example, then you are having big problem with your mail server and you will need to find a solution for it
And just for your information, it is not adding a small function. If we want to deliver email like that, we will have to store the emails into database and then write a system plugin or run a cron job to deliver part of the emails each time it runs
So for now, I don't think I will work on this improvement. We are still have many other improvements which has higher priority than this one. And trust me, you won't get much number of people ask for resend emails
Regards,
Tuan

Thank you, Tuan, for your clarification but as I said it's for discussion not new request.
We face that before with our SMTP provider but we upgrade to a new professional one who maximins can carry 2000 emails every 10 minutes which I did not know until I asked them yesterday and they replay me today.
So,subject closed even for discussion

Thanks again.
