modify the data to purchase an event

I guess there is a chance. Please have a look at "Custom fields" where you can select and set various options.

As Leon pointed out, it is possible. All the data collect on registration form are custom fields, so you can go to Events Booking -> Custom Fields to change the settings to meet your need:

1. You can unpublish the fields you don't want
2. You can edit the field, make it become a required/optional field
3. You can add new fields to collect additional information
4. You can control what fields are used in each step via Display In setting, see eventbookingdoc.joomservices.com/basic-s...-display-in-property
