Booking events with different prices was created by Dave Johnson
Hi,
I have an event where it is limited to 10 people maximum. This is normally easy to set up when creating an event.
However, my event needs to have 2 different prices: one price for children, a different price for adults. I have created 2 custom fileds: one for adult ticket price, one for child ticket price. I set the event price to 0 and I think I can then get the pricing totsl to work. But, if I select 3 children and 1 adult, it still only counts as 1 person registered. For example: capacity 10, registered 0, available place: 10. I register for 1 adult and 3 children and it then shows: capacity 10, registered 1, available place 9.
How can I make it count as 4 people registered instead of 1?
OK, so I had the idea of doing this differently:
Make people use Group Booking and create a custom field called "type" with 2 radio buttons: Adult, Child. Then if a person wanted to book one adult and 3 children they would select Group Booking, 4 people and then select adult or child for each of the 4 people. That seems to work but when you click "next", it goes to the billing information and the customer then has to enter email again and select adult or child! I don't know why this happens, but whichever I check, it then adds a 5th person to the booking.
Surely it must be easy to make this work? It is quite common to want 2 different priced tickets for an event?
Dave
Thank you
Dave

Hi Dave
There are two ways to setup it as you figured out:
1.If you choose method #1, then you need to do to things:
- Set name of the fields to start with number_, for example, number_adult, number_children
- Install and publish the update total registrants plugin (which I send below)
2. If you use method #2, then edit the custom fields, set Display In to Both Group Member form and Individual Billing Form. Then these two fields won't be shown in billing information step and it will solve your issue

Hi Tuan,
I tried to reply but it didn't seem to work...apologies if you get this twice!
Firstly, thanks very much for your quick reply and for explaining clearly what I need to do.
I tried method 1 after following your instructions. It worked very well but it didn't stop people over-booking. For example, if I have an event with maximum participants is 10, and then I book 12 people on the event, it will allow this over-booking and will show that there are minus 2 places left. I can keep over-booking as much as I want.
Method 2 works really well so I can use that. But I am interested to see if there is a solution to the over-booking problem.
Thanks very much
Dave

Hi Dave
The method #1 was just implemented as a workaround only. You can only use it if your event has unlimited capacity
So in this case, please use the method #2

Tuan

I understand now...thank you.
Method 2 is working fine, and with the latest version of Event Booking!
Thanks

Yes, it is. Please continue setting up and uses the extension. If you have other questions or need help, please open a new ticket
BTW, you should configure the extension to use Joomla update eventbookingdoc.joomservices.com/getting...on#use-joomla-update to be able to update to future releases of the extension from Joomla backend in the future. I planned to release new version 3.1.1 with some improvements + small bugs fixes on tomorrow

Tuan
